Frank Lampard And His Feats

Among the players who have been doing well for the games in MLS is Frank Lampard.

Out of the five games he has played he has scored four goals for his team. If you look at the matches of MLS in USA there has been much action that has been happening here, at the same time when Euro 2016 was taking place in the European continent. Frank Lampard as part of New York City FC scored his fourth goal for the club among five games, but the club could not make due use of the same and they suffered a defeat of 3-1. This was against Sporting KC which was held on Sunday.

Frank is a midfielder of England and he had played for Chelsea as well. He turned 38 recently and is considered to be hanging up his boots soon. However, among the best midfielders of Premier League he is doing his business well in US as well. If you look at his performances, he scored for the team last weekend as well for New England Revolution, which was also one of the feats achieved by him along with goals that he scored for teams like Seattle Sounders and Philadelphia Union. KEANE RETURNS FROM KNEE INJURY TO MAKE INSTANT IMPACT IN MLS FOOTBALL

Star player, Robbie Keane returned from knee surgery to score two goals for his MLS side on Sunday.

Former Liverpool midfielder, Steven Gerrard added another in a 4-2 win over New England. The game made the Los Angeles Galaxy the first team to win 300 Major League Soccer matches.

Keane has been sidelined since surgery on his ailing right knee in March but on his return he tapped in twice in the first half. His goals, both set up by Gyasi Zardes, were sandwiched around Giovani dos Santos’s long-range volley.

After the game, Gerrard said:

“To welcome that goal threat back into the team and the squad is great to see.”

However, the Revolution roared back in the second half, scoring twice in four minutes through Kelyn Rowe and Juan Agudelo to narrow the gap to 3-2. Frantically seeking the equalizer, Agudelo hit the cross bar with a curling shot in the 83rd, but Gerrard, back in action after missing a match with a groin injury, scored in injury time to make sure the Galaxy collected maximum points with his score.

Gerrard came on for Keane in the 60th minute. ‘Captain fantastic’ collected a pass from Mike Magee at the top of the penalty area, dribbled through the New England defense and looped a shot into the back of the net sending fans into wild jubilation. (more…)

Real Salt Late win 2-1 to move at the top of the league

Real Salt Late came from behind to beat Houston Dynamo 2-1 and move at the top of the table together with Colorado.

The first half was quite poor for the neutrals with both defences coming out on top. The first occasion of the half came for Real Salt Late when Juan Manuel Martinez fired a powerful shot that was saved by Joe Willis. The build-up to the shot was quite excellent as well with Martinez dribbling pass Rodriguez with some ease.

Few minutes later, the same Martinez will get another occasion to score, but again he will be denied by the Dynamo keeper.

The match will reach half time with the score 0-0. After the restart, it will be the Houston Dynamo who will start the game better. The first occasion will come to Leonel Miranda in the 54th minute. He benefited from a great work from Giles Barnes to put Dynamo ahead. (more…)

Michael Owen still confident on MU to score

Michael Owen expects Manchester City to score at some stage against their Champions League quarter-final opponents Paris St Germain.

This will give the Premier League team a massive boost for the return leg due to the importance of away goals in this competition. Like Chelsea who had their first match at the French capital, City will also be making the short trip for the first leg. The return leg will be at home. Chelsea left themselves a lot to do in the second leg after losing the first 2-1. This will play in the minds of City, as they would want to come home with at least a score draw.

At the same time, Owen does not protect success for his former club Liverpool in the Europa League encounter against Borussia Dortmund. This match marks a return to the Signal-Iduna-Park for Jurgen Klopp. The German manager had a lot of great memories at this ground, but he will be in the opposition dugout for this game. Klopp already showed signs of having this match in full attention, as he substituted Daniel Sturridge with 30 minutes left on the clock against Spurs during the weekend. Despite Liverpool chasing the game, Klopp appears to have felt the need to protect his star striker. (more…)

Bruce Arena is backing Steven Gerrard for a managerial role

Steven Gerrard has only been playing for LA Galaxy for around 3 months but in this short period of time it seems like the veteran midfielder has been making a big impact in the MLS as the coach of LA Galaxy Bruce Arena believes that Gerrard has what it takes to become a manager.

In 6 appearances for LA Galaxy, Gerrard has scored once and provided his teammates with 3 assists. This isn’t an amazing statistic but taking into consideration that Gerrard is 35 years old and it’s his debut season performing in a new league with a new team, it’s fairly impressive but what has truly impressed Bruce Arena is the intelligence and leadership that Gerrard displays in the pitch and this is why the manager believes that the former star of Liverpool could turn into a good manager in the future after he eventually decides to hang up his boots.

Bruce Arena praised Steven Gerrard as the manager of LA Galaxy said: “He’s going to be a manager after he leaves the game as a player. Where that’s going to be, I don’t know. I would love it if someone like that could replace me, but I don’t think it’s going to be with the Galaxy. I would love it if someone like that could replace me, but I don’t think it’s going to be with the Galaxy.

“I’d guess he’d go back to England and then you can guess where he might end up after that.” (more…)
