Lionel Messi is set to sign a new deal at Barcelona thus putting an end to rumours about his future at the club. This is according to the report from Catalan newspaper Sport.
The aforementioned report disclosed that Messi will take a pay cut to sign a new two-year contract with Barcelona before moving to mls football to play for Inter Miami co-owned by English football icon David Beckham. It was also revealed that Messi will return to Barcelona from mls football outfit Inter Miami after two seasons for an ambassadorial role with the Spanish giants as part of the ten-year deal agreed with him.
Barcelona are not in the best place financially and the ten-year deal agreed with Messi as per the report from Sport means the club can spread the cost of his contract over the course of the ten-year deal thus making an agreement feasible.
The arrival of longtime friend Sergio Aguero has also played a part in Messi’s decision to stay on at the Nou Camp. Aguero signed a two-year deal at Barcelona earlier this week and he’s expected to team up with the Catalans when his contract at Manchester City expires at the end of this month.
Aguerowill join Barcelona on a free transfer having already been unveiled as a new signing earlier this week. The Argentine international has been friends with Messi for the better part of the last two decades but has never played with him at club level.
Argentine striker Aguero has been at Manchester City for a decade and he leaves for Barcelona after the Premier League champions elected not to renew his contract.
