Steven Gerrard has only been playing for LA Galaxy for around 3 months but in this short period of time it seems like the veteran midfielder has been making a big impact in the MLS as the coach of LA Galaxy Bruce Arena believes that Gerrard has what it takes to become a manager.
In 6 appearances for LA Galaxy, Gerrard has scored once and provided his teammates with 3 assists. This isn’t an amazing statistic but taking into consideration that Gerrard is 35 years old and it’s his debut season performing in a new league with a new team, it’s fairly impressive but what has truly impressed Bruce Arena is the intelligence and leadership that Gerrard displays in the pitch and this is why the manager believes that the former star of Liverpool could turn into a good manager in the future after he eventually decides to hang up his boots.
Bruce Arena praised Steven Gerrard as the manager of LA Galaxy said: “He’s going to be a manager after he leaves the game as a player. Where that’s going to be, I don’t know. I would love it if someone like that could replace me, but I don’t think it’s going to be with the Galaxy. I would love it if someone like that could replace me, but I don’t think it’s going to be with the Galaxy.
“I’d guess he’d go back to England and then you can guess where he might end up after that.”
Arena believes that if Steven Gerrard ever does decide to take up a managerial career he will eventually go back to Liverpool and make a return to Anfield but this time as a coach instead of a player.
Steven Gerrard is and will forever remain being a Liverpool legend as he spent over 15 years of his playing career in Anfield and helped them in winning major titles including the Champions League of 2005. Fans of the Premier League club will certainly want to see him back in Anfield.
